Wolfgang Kroutil appointed as “Chemistry Europe Fellow”

We are very happy to announce that Chemistry Europe has appointed Prof. Wolfgang Kroutil, a key researcher in the Cluster of Excellence, as “Chemistry Europe Fellow”.

Chemistry Europe is an association of 16 chemical societies from 15 European countries, known for publishing a range of high-quality scientific chemistry journals, selected a distinguished group of 22 new fellows for their exceptional contributions. Fellows retain this distinction for life and often serve as ambassadors for pan-European collaboration. Previous Chemistry Europe Fellows include Nobel Prize winners Ben Feringa (Netherlands), Jean-Marie Lehn (France), and Sir Fraser Stoddart (USA).

Prof. Kroutil is the program lead of program 3 of the Cluster of Excellence Circular Bioengineering. Program 3 builds the scientific foundation for replacing
fossil-fuel-based chemistry with biological precision, renewable energy, and circular design. Prof. Kroutil’s research focuses specifically on the development of biocatalysts and enzymatic methods for sustainable synthesis routes.

Congratulations!
